Detailed description:  The magistrate's residence is one of the "diamond palaces" which were built after the discovery of diamonds near Lüderitz in 1908. The house, which is representative of the German colonial architectural style, was first occupied by one Goerke, the "Proviants-Inspecteur", who was its first owner
