Remarks:  * .1900 at Bloemfontein, South Africa, + 29.12.1955 at Johannesburg, South Africa, Cecil Joseph Cloete Lemmer was born in 1900 at Bloemfontein in South Africa. He was educated at the Grey University College in South Africa. He was a teacher and later an Inspector of Schools. He was the editor of Educa from 1933-. He was a founding member of the SWA Scientific Society, served as its secretary and as President from 1937 until 1939. He was a founder and first chairman of the SWA Monuments Commission from 1949-. He retired in 1955 and died in the same year [?]. He was a collector of books and manuscripts on Namibian history, and his material - among it autographs of Namibian leaders such as Hendrik Witbooi - was purchased from the family for the National Archives of Namibia where it is preserved as "Lemmer Collection".
